A holiday guide to Javea

Javea is a small, historic town situated on the coast of Spain in northern Costa Blanca. Often referred to as the Jewel of the Costa Blanca, its scenic coastline, sandy white beaches, mild year-round climate and charm of an ancient fishing village makes for a very relaxing holiday atmosphere.

According to the World Health Organisation, Javea has one of the healthiest climates in the World – there are more recorded hours of sunshine per year in Javea than any other place in Spain – perfect for a holiday whatever the time of year!

Javea is comprised of three distinct areas. There’s the Old Town, steeped in medieval history which has largely been preserved throughout the centuries. Here you can wander through the maze of narrow streets and small plazas with excellent shops and the venue for the local weekly market. Then there is the fishing port, a lively bustling area with many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants – just the place to sit and sample the local wines whilst watching the fishing boats bringing in the day’s catch. Finally there is the fantastic Arenal beach front. A perfect sandy, blue flag beach with a promenade that has a number of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants providing a variety of food to suit all tastes. During the evenings in the summer months, you will find various stalls here selling a variety of handmade crafts. Many of the bars have live music and there are several discotheques for those that like to dance the night away.

All of this and boasting a history stretching back many thousands of years, Jávea offers something for everyone.
